“I am a Canadian citizen since birth, born in the USA to Canadian parents.
I moved to Canada as a toddler. I have never claimed a US citizenship, have absolutely no link to the US and I was never told that I had tax obligations to the US simply by virtue of being born there – if I try to renounce now, the US government will consider me a ‘tax cheat’. My Acadian ancestor who came to Canada in 1682 must be turning over in his grave.” ~ Acadian Born in USA, Quebec

ADCS thanks its thousands of supporters, donors and of course the plaintiffs who generously and courageously allowed themselves to be the "public face" of opposition to one of the great injustices of our time.

2022 UPDATE: On August 11, 2014 Plaintiffs Ginny and Gwen filed a lawsuit against the FATCA agreement in Federal Court of Canada. See the original Claims.
We lost the Federal Court battle (Mactavish decision) and Appellants Gwen and Kazia appealed the Federal Court decision in Canada’s Court of Appeal on
March 30, 2022.
We expect that the Federal Court of Appeal will decide the case in the fall of 2022.
Gwen and Kazia say that the Canadian FATCA turnover to the U.S. IRS of private information of a subgroup of Canadian citizens – made only because of threat of harm by the U.S. – violates Canada's Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
